Asheville – James Earl “Jim” Standridge, was born December 15, 1949 and went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2021. A strong, hard working man that had a heart bigger than the universe. He brought a smile to everyone he was around. His family was his prize possession. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, was Owner & Operator of Stagecoach Transportation Company and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had a passion for collecting guns, knifes and pocket watches. He loved his old cars and riding motorcycle with his daughter and hunting with his son and daughter. He was preceded in death by his dad, Noble S. Standridge (Sie), mom, Hazel W. Standridge and sister, Janet McCarson. He leaves behind his wife, Pat Standridge; daughter, Jennifer Standridge; son, Marty Standridge; lots of nephews and nieces that he loved dearly; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; wonderful friends that he enjoyed so much; grandchildren that he was so proud of, Jake and Shelby Standridge, and Silas Ingle which was his heart and soul…the source of many laughs and good times from the time he entered this life. He was Papaw’s world. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 17, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Much love to a special nephew, Bubba and nieces, Lauren & Lindsey for always being there for him; Coach Ed Chambers for guiding him and nuturing him in his early teens. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses, PA’s and doctors seeing after his care.
