Jim King

Asheville – Jim King, 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Mission Hospital.

A native Haywood County, he was a son of the late Roy and Maude Clark King. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry King; and sisters, Geneva Fox and Polly Fox.

Jim proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, and the Army Reserves. He worked for Mission Hospital for 29 years and retired as the Security Manager in 2010. He loved spending time with his family whether traveling, playing and watching sports with his sons, being out in nature, and spending time with his Havanese dog, Gus.

Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Kristie King; sons: Jacob King and wife Nikki, and Adam King and wife Manning; daughter, Stephanie Renea Fortner; grandchildren: Delane Rogers, and Stephen Rogers; great-grandson, Grayson Rogers; sister, Kay Reeves and husband Wesley; sister-in-law, Joann King; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
