Jim Hickey Sr.

WEAVERVILLE James Willard Jim Hickey, Sr., 81, of Reems Creek Rd. went to be with his Lord Wednesday, February 6, 2008. A native of Dover, FL and a resident of Buncombe County most of his life, he was a son of the late James Guy and Mae Buddy Carr Hickey and husband of Wilma Clark Hickey who died in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Tipton. Mr. Hickey was a former salesman with Jim Walter Homes and Anderson Family Home, a member of Pine Burr Park Baptist Church and a WW II Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. Surviving are his children, Brenda Kay McElrath (David), James W. Jimmy Hickey, Jr. (Vickie) and Teresa Alice Rhinehart all of Weaverville; brother, William D. Red Hickey of Weaverville; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Stan Welch officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
