Jewell Stowe "Judy" Marshall

Arden - Jewell Judy Maye Stowe Marshall, 83, of 10 South Forest Lane, went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 1, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a native of Buncombe County where she had resided most of her life. Mrs. Marshall retired in 1999 following 26 years of service with the Better Business Association of Asheville/WNC. She was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Forever Young Sunday School Class and a member of the Hy - Hopes American Business Womens Chapter, After Five Christian Womens Council, Golden Girls WNAA, W.N.C. Pilots Association and W.N.C. Air Museum. She had been a long time Aviation enthusiast. Her late husband was one of five pilots, all brothers, in one of the WNC pioneer aviation families. She had a large number of friends in aviation and enjoyed working in air shows and many other flying activities. She was a daughter of the late William Washington and Bertha Catherine Montgomery Stowe formerly of Leicester and wife of George Bascomb Marshall who died in 1970. She was also preceded in death by a son, Clyde David Marshall who died in 1966; sisters, Alice Ingle of Leicester and Elizabeth Taylor of Asheville; brothers, Jack Stowe of Leicester and George Stowe of Alexander. Surviving are her daughters, Eleanor M. McMinn and husband, Jim of Athens, GA and Linda L. Marshall of Greenville, SC; son, Michael B. Marshall and wife, Teresa of Fletcher; sister, Hope Phillippe and husband, Keith of Pikeville; brothers, Bill Stowe of Leicester and Bud Stowe of Asheville; grandson, Rev. Dr. Greg McMinn and wife, Leigh of Loganville, GA; grand daughters, Lisa M. Lewis and husband, Geoff of Athens, GA., Shellie Atchison and husband, Kevin of Greenville, SC and Kelly Clements of Fletcher; great grand daughter, Ella Lewis of Athens, GA. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Bent Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Bridges, Emile Wolfaardt and Dr. Greg McMinn officiating. Burial will be at Shepherd Memorial Park at a later date. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bent Creek Baptist Church, 1554 Brevard Road, Asheville, NC 28806
