Jewel Bowers Randall

Gastonia Jewel Bowers Randall, 93, of 1713 Essen Lane passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Brian Center of Gastonia. A native of Hart County, GA. Mrs. Randall had resided in Buncombe County most of her life prior to moving to Gastonia in 2008. She retired in the 1980s from Roses Department Store and was formerly employed with Three Mountaineers, was a member and former Sunday School Teacher of Erwin Hills Baptist Church (formerly Patton Avenue Baptist Church) and most recently, of Grace Baptist Church in Gastonia. Mrs. Randall was a daughter of the late Rev. Sanford Delton Bowers and Arlie Myrtice Scott Bowers and wife of Oliver Lee Randall who died August 18, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her brother, A.G. Bowers, sisters, Lois Davis and Elton Wright. Surviving are her son, Danny Lee Randall, Sr. of Mt. Holly; granddaughter, Karen Leigh Cintron of Mt. Holly; grandson, Danny Lee Randall, Jr. of Sarasota, FL; great grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Ashley and Kristy; sisters, Sarah Jefferies, withwhom she made her home, Mary Lou Anderson and Mildred Earnhardt and husband Alvin all of Greensboro; several nieces and nephews; former daughter-in-law, Sandra Randall of Asheville and special friends, Anna Cooke of Belmont and Sandra Crawford of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Hensley and Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Harold Wright, Mike Culbertson, Ronnie Bowers, Tommy Jefferies, David Earnhardt, Albert North and Randy Maney. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Anderson, Bob Anderson, Alvin Earnhardt, Richard Oakley, Joey Jefferies, Herman Garren, Lonnie Beavers, Jason Jefferies, Matthew Jefferies, Bill Jefferies, Brian Wright, Mike Self, Hoss Hinson, Tommy Self and Mike Edwards. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday prior to services at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held 12:30 P.M. Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church in Gastonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 2200 Auten Road, Gastonia, N.C. 28054.
