Jerry Teague

Leicester Jerry Verneal Teague, 77, of 44 Green Valley Road, went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 22, 2013 at his home. A native and resident most of his life of Buncombe County, he retired in the early 90s from Trailways/Greyhound Bus Lines as a Bus Driver following 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he was employed with Buncombe County Schools where he served in the Janitorial Department at Valley Springs Middle School, was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid gardener who also loved watching baseball and Nascar Racing. Mr. Teague was a son of the late James Thomas Teague and Callie Florence Wells Teague. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Teague and brother-in-law, Howard Blankenship. Surviving are his wife whom he married July 23, 1957, Jeanette Melinda King Teague of the home; sons, Terry V. Teague and wife Genia of Leicester and Roger D. Teague of Portland, TN; grandchildren, Travis and Heather; sister, Juanita Blankenship of Asheville and brothers, Gary Teague and wife JoAnn and Wallace Teague and wife Shelby Jean and sister-in-law, Louise Teague all of Leicester. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Wolfe, Rev. Ricky Townsend and Rev. Joe Sellars officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Travis Teague, Tyler Sparks, Gene Radford, Rob Rhymer, Chad Gillespie, John Sparks, James and Toby Bryant serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Conley Gillespie, Mack Brooks, Wesley Lusk and Richard Frisbee. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
