Weaverville – Jerry Long Dillingham, 81, of 141 Ox Creek Road, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from SM Company Asheville following over 20 years of service. Following retirement, he served with Ingles Grocery in Weaverville. He was a member of First Baptist Church Weaverville, was a 1958 graduate of North Buncombe High School and served in the Army National Guard of NC and as a Reserve of the Army. He loved people, was known for making people laugh with his jokes, and was an avid Braves fan. He was a son of the late Burnette Sams Dillingham and Sue Maney Dillingham and was also preceded in death by his sister, Martha Jo Carter. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Janice Bishop Dillingham of the home; son, Rodney Dillingham of Kernersville; daughter, Amy Alexander and husband Jeremy of Weaverville; grandchildren, Austin Dillingham, Jarrett Alexander, Jackson Alexander and Carissa Alexander; former daughter-in-law, Melanie Colvard Dillingham; sister, Barbara Bache and husband Bill; brothers, Richard Dillingham and twin brother, Johnny Dillingham both of Weaverville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 19, 2021 at First Baptist Church Weaverville, with Rev. Dr. Stuart Lampkin officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Friday at the church, and at other times, will be at the residence.
