Jerry "Don" Hawkins

Asheville – Jerry “Don” Donald Hawkins, 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his residence. A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Charlie Clingman Hawkins and Marie Margaret Robinson Maynard. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Marie Reid, and brother, Phil Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his military service he worked as a long haul truck driver for UPS, as a service manager for Bob Ledford’s for 26 years, and Speedy’s for 20 years. He was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Anita Metcalf Hawkins; daughter, Pam Hawkins Penland of Candler; brother, Cecil Hawkins and wife Helen of Fairview; niece, Sonya Bass; and three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emma's Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1786, Fairview, NC 28730.
