Jefferson Sr. Hughes

Asheville Jefferson Davis Hughes, Sr., 81, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center. A native of Monroe, NC, he had lived in Asheville for the past 30 years. He was a member of Glory Tabernacle Church and served in the U.S. Army during Peacetime. Mr. Hughes was the son of the late David and Ethel Yandle Hughes. Surviving are his wife, Wilma Jeanette Coates Hughes; daughter, Pat Licata and husband Sam; sons, Jeff Hughes, Jr., Ron Hughes and wife Debbie and Kevin Hughes and wife Sandra; grandchildren, Ryanne, Carl, Erin, Josh, Taylor and Alexandra; great grandson, Brody and sister-in-law, Carolyn Hughes. Funeral services will be held 6 P.M. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Glory Tabernacle Church with Pastor Ron Pittman officiating. Burial will be held 10 A.M. in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, January 26, 2012 with military rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team. The family will receive family and friends from 5 to 6 P.M. Wednesday at the church.
