J.B. Long

Candler James Burgin J.B. Long, 70, of 66 Hurst Drive, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, J.B. was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church, and had served in the US Navy. J.B. was the son of the late Charles R. Long, Jr. and Vivian B. Anders Long, and the husband of Mary Long, who passed away in September, 2007. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Charles Long. Surviving are his son, Charlie Long and fianc Angela Brown of Candler; grandson, Skyler Charlie Jacob Brown; brother, Kenneth R. Long and wife Diane of Elizabethton, TN; aunt, Ruth Forrest of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Charlie Sams officiating. The family will receive friends following the services.
