Jan Renau

March 8, 1948 — August 10, 2021

Asheville – Janalea Monteas “Jan” Thorpe Renau, 73, of 22 Viewmont Road, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the Elizabeth House. A native of Florence, SC, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1978. She retired from Mission Hospital following 27 years of service where at the time of her retirement, served as Unit Director of the Coronary Care Unit. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and shared the gospel with many walks of life during her lifetime. She was the daughter of the late Sherwood Allen Thorpe and Gertrude Eloise Jordan Thorpe and was the wife of John Edward Renau, Jr. who died December 28, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Thana Rhea Thorpe and brother, Allen Joel Thorpe. Surviving are her sons, John Edward “Johnny” Renau, III of Leicester and John Michael “Mike” Renau and wife Sheila of Candler; sister-in-law, Kim Thorpe of Jonesboro, GA; niece, Kimberly Thorpe of Jonesboro, GA; nephew, James Thorpe of Sandy Springs, GA; great-niece, Jordan Thorpe of Sandy Springs, GA. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Victory Baptist Church of which she was a member, with Rev. Brian Furches officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. Private burial will be held at a later date at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to: Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen St, Flat Rock, NC 28731. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love, care and support given to our mom by her special friend and neighbor, Debbie Carpenter.
