James Weldon Sales, 89, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2016 after several years of declining health. James was the son of the late Forest and May Sales of Leicester. He was a member of Western Chapel United Methodist Church, but had attended Teagues Chapel United Methodist Church for the past few years. James retired from Feed-Seed Supply in Weaverville. He enjoyed living on the farm and beekeeping most of his life. Surviving are his sister, Juanita (Bud) Sams of Leicester; nephew, Dennis (Karen) Sams of Leicester; niece, Karen (Ray Dean) Webb of Marshall; six great-nieces and nephews, and ten great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 17, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Wyllene Skipper and Rev. Ed Worley officiating. Great-nephews and other family members will serve as pallbearers. James will be laid to rest at Cane Creek Cemetery in Fairview. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
