James Steve Doan

Arden - James Steve Doan, 61, of 9 Joshua Ridge, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 10, 2006. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Steve was a delivery driver for O Reilly Auto Parts. He was also a veteran of the US Marine Corps. Steve was the son of the late William Taylor and Iva Joel Rice Doan. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Betty Green, Joyce Clemments, and Mary Hensley; and a brother, Freddy Doan. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Haney Doan, of the home; two daughters: Jamie Melvin and husband D.G. and Jeannie M. Doan, all of Asheville; three grandsons: Stephen, Ethan, and Gray; sister, Nancy Reed of Asheville; 4 nieces, 10 nephews, numerous grand-nieces and nephews, and his 4 beloved dogs. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Bro. Eddie Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park, with graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
