West Asheville James Nathan Jim Pete Lamb, 92, of 238 Waynesville Avenue, went to be with his Lord Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his residence with his family by his side. A native of Paint Rock, Madison County, NC he had resided in Buncombe County past 61 years. He served in the U.S. Army, 30th Infantry Division Old Hickory during W.W.II and retired in 1967 from the Asheville V.A. Medical Center. Following his retirement he worked for over 35 years with B & B Pharmacy as a Deliveryman. He was a former member of the Fruit of Labor Church and a member of the V.F.W. Post #891. Mr. Lamb was the son of the late John Nathan and Sarah Elizabeth Blackwell Lamb and was also preceded in death by his grandson, Brent King, two sisters and two brothers. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Edith Beatrice Alexander Lamb of the home; daughters, Janice Vanover & husband, Ronnie of Swannanoa, Marie Mulley and husband, Bob of Candler, Shirlean Ledbetter of Asheville and Teresa Miller and husband, Jimmy of Leicester; son, Eddie Lamb and wife Angie of Hendersonville; sisters, Thelma Hall and husband, George of Candler and Hazel McMahan and husband, Frank of Enka; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including his special niece, Trula Ridley. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. James Lamb officiating. Military graveside rites will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team.
