James M. Pressley, Sr.

Black Mountain James Manuel Pressley, Sr., 90, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the NC State Veterans Home. A native of Haywood County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a self employed Logger and served in the US Army - 15th Infantry during WW II. Mr. Pressley was a son of the late Norman and Leona Gibson Pressley and former husband to the late Doris Owen Pressley. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Lynn Trantham and son, James Manuel Pressley, Jr. Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn Joy Davis; son, Timothy Martin Pressley; grandchildren, John and Shane Reep, Heather Carter and Brandi Pressley. Graveside services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Clarks Chapel Cemetery, Clarks Chapel Cemetery Rd., Canton with the family receiving friends following services at the cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the NC National Guard.
