James Leonard Walker

James Leonard Walker, 78, of 1074 Pine Ridge Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2022. A native and lifelong resident of the Beaverdam Community of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Elmer and Mary Ada Redmon Walker. He was also preceded in death by his three siblings including brother, Jack Walker. Mr. Walker retired in the early 2000’s from Ball Corporation following 35 years of service. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Cowboy Church, was an avid Golfer and a Vietnam Veteran of the US Marine Corps. Surviving are his wife of over 55 years, Loretta Faye Poteat Walker of the home; daughter, Brenda Walker Cloer & husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Tyler Cloer and Morgan Martin and husband, Jake; great grandchildren, Beckett, Henley and Laikyn all of Franklin and several nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Louis Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
