Asheville James Jim Ernest Candler, 82, of 70 Rumbough Place passed away Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Marshall, he had resided in Asheville most of life. He retired in 2003 from the City of Asheville, was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church, a member of the V.F.W. Post #891 and was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II. Mr. Candler was the son of the late James Ernest Candler and Lucille Mamie Clemons Candler. Surviving are his wife, Amelia Colagerakis Candler of the home; son, Tommy Candler of Hendersonville; step-son, Jimmy Wooten of Asheville; granddaughters, Kara Candler & Kasha Candler both of Asheville; and sister, Mary Byerly & husband, Jim of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday.
