Asheville - James Hubert Noland, 77, of 51 Bee Ridge Road, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital following a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he worked as a shift foreman for Carolina Power and Light for 37 years. He was a member of Reynolds Baptist Church. Mr. Noland was the son of Stella Bartlett Noland of Hendersonville, and the late Robert Burton Bertie Noland. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert B. Noland, Jr. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Charlene Willis Noland, of the home; three daughters: Sandra Jackson and husband Eddie of Fairview, Deborah Noland of Charlotte, and Shirley Fox of Hickory; three grandchildren: Jennifer Jackson Ward and husband Bryan, James E. Jackson, and Sibel Turkdamar; sister, Betty Jean Gosnell and husband Bobby of Hendersonville; a sister-in-law Nancy Bryson Noland of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Reynolds Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to: Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
