James Jennings Gillespie, 87, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Gillespie was a native of Buncombe County and had resided in Buncombe County since 1963. He retired in 1993 from Akzo America (American Enka Company) after 35 years of service. He also retired in 2007 from Volvo Construction Equipment following 15 years of service. He was a member of Teague's Chapel Church. He loved his Lord, church and family.
Mr. Gillespie was the son of the late James Grover Gillespie and Ruth Marie Meadows Gillespie Brown, and husband of the late Betty jean Vaughn Gillespie. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Margaret Joyce Vaughn.
Surviving are his brother, Paul Brown (Ellie); nephews: Jimmy Brown (Dorothy), and Michael Brown (Misty); great nieces: Tamara and Chanie Brown; great nephews: Andrew and Justin Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Teague's Chapel Church with Rev. Wyllene Skipper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 till 1:45 PM on Friday at the church.
