James Douglas "Jim" Mcpherson, Jr.

Asheville James Douglas Jim McPherson, Jr., 94, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at the WNC Baptist Home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was born and raised in Woodfin and had lived in Haw Creek for over 60 years. Mr. McPherson retired in 1981 following 39 years of service with Beacon Mfg. Co. and was a member of Mount Pisgah Academy Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was the son of the late James Douglas McPherson, Sr. and Anne Florence Waters McPherson and the husband of Elsie Ruth Rash McPherson who passed away October 19, 1989. Surviving are his step son, Steven Grimsley of Rockford, TN; sister, Mary Elizabeth Rhoades of Silver Springs, MD and several nieces. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 3, 2011 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home.
