J. D. Hensley

Burnsville – Jay D. Hensley, 89, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 23, 2021. A native of Yancey County, he worked as a flooring mechanic for most of his life. He was the son of the late William Ervin Hensley and Lillie Mae Moore Hensley and husband of Evelyn Joan Taylor Hensley who died January 21, 2003. Surviving are his son, Ronny Dean Hensley (Juynice) and daughter, Joyce Ann Hensley all of Fletcher; grandchildren, Jerry Hensley, James Hensley, Rondi Babinbau, Kerri Woods, Crystal Wheeler and Leya Fussell, numerous great and great great grandchildren, sisters, Edith Buchanan of Weaverville and Betty Chandler (Harold) of Burnsville and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Ivy Park Cemetery, Weaverville. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
