J C Branton

West Asheville – J C Branton, 98, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Memorial Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of West Asheville, he was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the European Theater during WWII where he was wounded in France in 1944. Following his military service, Mr. Branton worked most of his life as a licensed plumber and retired from the Buncombe County Board of Education in the Maintenance Department. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Mr. Branton was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; five brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his two stepsons: Tommy H. McCurry and Jack “Pete” McCurry and their families. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Pisgah View Memorial Park with his grandson, Rev. Jeff McCurry officiating.
