Fairview - Iris Erma Lanning Curry, 75, of 90 Number Nine Road, died Sunday, February 9, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired in 1980 as a Biology Teacher at A.C. Reynolds High School and had taught for over 25 years in Buncombe County. Following her retirement she devoted her life to her grandchildren. She was a member of Emmas Grove Baptist Church, former President of the Fairview Fire Department Ladies Auxillary and past board member of Buncombe Soil and Water Conservation. Mrs. Curry was a daughter of the late Marion McFee Mac Lanning and Maude Beatrice Peek Lanning and wife of the late Leon Roy Curry, Sr. who died May 29, 1992. Surviving are her son, Leon Roy Curry, Jr. and wife, Tennette of Fairview; daughter, Barbara Howard and husband, Pat of Fairview; 3 grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Howard and Candace Curry who loved her dearly and will sadly miss her; sister, Marie Lytle and husband, Boyce; brother, Julian Lanning and wife, Mary all of Fairview; aunt, Sadie Swann of Asheville; a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great great nephew. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Emmas Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. H. L. Wilson and Rev. Donnie Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Fairview Fire Department Ladies Auxillary, P.O.
