Irene Owens

Asheville Irene Gault Owens, 98, of 380 Brevard Road and formerly of 20 Westwood Place, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Aston Park Health Care Center. A native of Spartanburg, SC, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1946. She was a volunteer for the Alzheimers Association of Western NC and for the American Cancer Society, where she received Volunteer of the Year and was a former member of Mt. Pisgah SDA Church. Mrs. Owens was a daughter of the late Theodore Monroe Gault and Carrie Bell Melton Gault and wife of Roy William Owens, Sr. who died December 31, 1973. Surviving are her son, Roy William Bill Owens, Jr. and wife Anita of Asheville; daughter, Linda Owens of Cleveland, GA; sister, Frances Calomeris of Lawrenceville, GA; grandsons, Marvin Owens and Leslie Owens and great granddaughters, Candice, Sydni and Hayli Owens.
