Hugh Rogers

Asheville Hugh Ira Rogers, 72, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. We have lost our Sweetheart, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Best Friend, but we will never lose the memory of our love for him, the twinkle in his eyes, his sweet smile and gentle ways. Hugh retired from Square D in November 2000 after working there for 40 years. Hugh was a member and Deacon of Newfound Baptist Church. Hugh was a son of the late Ira Rogers and Blanche Israel Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jennell L. Rogers, daughter, Vicki Eatmon and husband Mark and grandson, Maxwell Eatmon all of Asheville; sisters, Anna Fox of Alexander and Marjorie Robinson of Leicester; brothers, Rev. Dr. Troy Rogers of Mars Hill, Jonathan Rogers of Fairview, Clarence and Truman Rogers both of Asheville and Marshall Sluder of Winston Salem. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 6 PM in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Rogers and Rev. Bob Moon will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following services until 8 PM Thursday. A graveside service will be held at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10:30 AM. The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to Dr. John Langlois, Care Partners Hospice Physician who cared for Hugh throughout his long illness he was always there for Hugh. There are no words to express how much this meant to both Hugh and the family and we thank him from the bottom of our heart. The family also wishes to express our thank you to Care Partners Hospice and the complete Hospice Team, to Mary Ashe, Nurse with Hospice who cared for Hugh in the most compassionate and caring way we could ever expect, to Bessie Tomlin, Ken Kelly, Bessie Penland, Fran Kyles and Helga Grape, all who gave Hugh the best care anyone could ever expect.
