Howard H. Lunsford

Leicester – Howard H. Lunsford, 89, of 31 Golden Lane went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

Mr. Lunsford was a native and resident of Buncombe County until 1952. He and his family moved throughout the United States over the many years serving as CEO of several large Bread Companies and upon retiring in 1997 returned to Buncombe County. Mr. Lunsford also very proudly served as the President of the Baker’s Association of America and was an Amateur Golfer having played in the Pro-Am Tours.

He was a son of the late James Eli Lunsford and Martha Roberts Lunsford and was the last of 7 surviving siblings. Howard was the husband of 68 years to Betty Jean Murray Lunsford who died November 21, 2017.

Surviving are his children, Brenda Huff (Roger) of Smithville, TN, and David Lunsford (Linda) of Liberty, TN; 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11AM Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Sluder Family with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 200 Mt. Carmel Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
