Houston Lattie Ponder

Asheville - Houston Lattie Ponder, 57, of 270 Rock Hill Road died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life and was a son of the late Stanley James and Rellie Lee Ponder. He retired from Gerber Products following 14 years of service and currently worked part time for Ingles at South Forest Shopping Center and was an avid Sportsman. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Kay Hammond Ponder of the home; daughter, Bunky Crisp and husband Dean of Columbia, SC; son, Brett Ponder and wife Lori of Asheville; grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Abel and Chloe; sisters, Doris Begley and husband Kyle of Dungannon, VA and Ruby Shepherd and husband Rev. Roy Shepherd of Weaverville; brothers, Harlon Ponder and wife Frances of Weaverville, Rev. Bill Ponder and wife Brenda of Erwin, TN, John Ponder and wife Lois, Roger Ponder and wife Mary Lou, Rev. Nelson Ponder and wife Sharon and Michael Ponder and wife Lynda all of Weaverville; buddies, Janer, Lou Lou, Jim, Bill, Jacket and Leslie and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Dean Crisp and the Rev. Roy Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Jim Hammond, Jack Edmonston, Bill Morrow, Mike Ponder, Roger Ponder and Tony Huntsinger serving as pallbearers.
