Candler Horace Roger Robison, 93, of 235 Pritchard Road, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Macon County, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1932. Mr. Robison retired as a Mechanical Engineer from American Enka Corporation where he was employed for 44 years of which he served as the Marketing and Technical Division Supervisor for 25 years. During W.W. II he spent over 2 years working for the US Navy in the Panama Canal Zone and in 1945 he spent a year in Oak Ridge, TN in the development of the first nuclear bomb. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member of the John Lawrence Sunday School Class. He was a distinguished Deacon Emeritus recipient and held many volunteer positions at Calvary. Mr. Robison was a son of the late Jesse Calhoun and Cumi Adeline Downs Robison and the husband of the late Nancy Pauline Murray Robison who died May 2, 2002. Surviving are his daughters, Linda Gail Willey and husband, Gary of Millville, DE and Janice Carol Welborn and husband, George of Marietta, GA; son, Roger David Robison and wife, Jan of Charlotte; grandchildren, Lauren, Josh and wife, Shantel, Kyle, Justin, Leigh, Connor and Lawson and great grandson, Caleb. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Welborn officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 AM Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Candler Building Fund at Calvary Baptist Church, 531 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
