Hobart Rector

Asheville Hobart Louis Rector, 85, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1985 from the National Climatic Center following 30 years of service. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a US Air Force veteran, having served as a Fireman. Mr. Rector was the son of the late John Rector and Grace Clayton Rector Hilton and husband of Mary Louise Rector who died April 9, 2015. Surviving are his daughter, Cathy Rector Queen and husband James of Candler and grandson, Benjamin F. Queen and fiance Kelsey Medlock of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, August 8, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Pruett officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
