Hilda Isabel Parrell Shively

Asheville – Hilda Isabel Parrell Shively, 91, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Carepartners Solace Center. Born in Newfoundland, Canada, she was daughter of the late Theresa Mooney Parrell and Joseph Parrell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, William Shively; children: Timothy Wayne Shively, Joseph William Shively, and Kathleen Marie Shively; grandsons: Joseph Shively and Van Shively; granddaughter, Vivienne Shively; sisters: Clara MacLaren and Rose Bingenheimer; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She loved the Lord, nature, wildlife, flowers, and pet dogs. She epitomized Christianity--never meeting a stranger without loving all. And she was always relentlessly chasing the bluejays away from the brood of wild birds she fed and watched. She will be missed by one and all.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 27, 2023, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Deborah Brittain officiating. Burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the Anders-Rice funeral home, which is honored to serve the Shively family.
