Herman C. West

Swannanoa – Herman C. West, 84, of 111 Old Jim’s Branch Rd., went to be with the Lord on Monday July 5, 2021. Mr. West was a native of Bryson City and resided in Buncombe County most of his life and son of the late John and Beulah Pelkington West. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ann Lindsey West who died in 2004 and by 14 siblings. Mr. West was the former owner and operator of West Nursery & Landscaping and was a member of Swannanoa Church of God. Surviving are his daughters, Holly Guy of Greensboro, Susan Mathis (Harris) of Wellington, FL and Libby Lash (Greg) of Swannanoa; grandchildren, Casey Guy, Lindsey Marotta (Nick) and Jason Mudgett (James); great-granddaughter, Millicent Marotta; brother, Charles West of Hendersonville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Swannanoa Church of God with the Rev. David Hall and Rev. Robert Haynie officiating. Burial will follow at the Sky View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services at the church. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the West Family.
