Asheville - Herbert Lee Hensley, husband of Frances Betty Garrison Morrow Hensley, peacefully slipped from his loved ones hands into eternity on Sunday, August 6, 2006. He was born in Asheville, November 1, 1921. He was the son of the late Cecil Lee and Ester Queen Hensley. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death, not only by his mother and father, but also two sisters, Ruby Leach and Ethel Cobb and also his first wife Sarah Hall Hensley and step-daughter, Belinda Love Gamble. He leaves behind many loved ones including his wife of 13 years, Frances Betty Garrison Morrow Hensley; sisters, June Cheek and Madge Buckner both of Weaverville, Mary Levi and Shirley Ball both of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Clyde Hensley of Tampa, FL; special nephew, Victor Rex Young and his wife Darlene of Fort Mill, SC and many other nieces and nephews. Also surviving are step-daughters, Rachel Barbee of Banner Elk and Linda Wells and her husband Bruce of Asheville; step-son, Mike Morrow and his wife Mary of Charlotte; several step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. He acquired a lot of friends during his eighty four years, but some special friends are Leonard and Willie Holder of Greensboro. He was a well known sheet metal worker and welder, having worked for several companies including W.H. Arthur & Co., R&W Heating & Air Conditioning Co. and L.A. White Sheet Metal Co. before his retirement. He attended Brittains Cove Presbyterian Church in Weaverville. His pastimes included gardening, welding, working with metal and he enjoyed the challenge of repairing anything that was broken. Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka with the Revs. George Hutchins and Enoch Ball, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends form 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the family and friends as well as Dr. Paul Chang and his staff for their care and support.
