Henry Arrington

Asheville Henry Edward Arrington, 81, of 180 Hudson Street passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 1993 from Asheville Lighting Company following 25 years of service, and was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Arrington was a son of the late Bryson Columbus Arrington and Okra Emmaline Wallin Arrington and husband of Peggy Ruth Gillespie Arrington who died March 25, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Arrington Jenkins; brothers, Everette Arrington and Rex Arrington; sisters, Pauline Hawkins and Velda Morgan. Surviving are his son, David Arrington of Winston-Salem; granddaughters, Samantha Jenkins and Amanda Jackson and 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Eva McClure of Asheville, Mable Crowe and husband Boyce of Black Mountain and Jean Eveleigh and husband Harvey of Gastonia; brother, J.B. Arrington and wife Wilda Jane of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 3 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Raines officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Private graveside services will be held in Green Hills Cemetery.
