Asheville - Helen Alice Young Lee, 74, of 21 Deleuil Drive passed away Friday, June 24, 2005 at St. Josephs Hospital following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was formerly employed in retail sales and was a devoted homemaker. Mrs. Lee was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church where she was former head of the WMU and was instrumental in starting the Media Center (Library) and the Senior Citizens Program. Her lifelong ministry was baking cakes and sending cards to the sick and shut in. She was a daughter of the late William Augustus Gus Young and Alice Lunsford Young and the wife of Charles Vestal Lee who died in 1991. Mrs. Lee was also preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Fletcher and brothers William Augustus Billy Young, Jr. and Charles E. Young. Surviving are her daughter, Charlene L. Worley and husband, Donald of Asheville; grand daughter, Amber L. Davis and husband, Ron of Candler; great grandchildren, William Wesley Crawford, Alicia Nicole Crawford and Samantha Rachelle Davis all of Candler; sister, Pansy Wilson of Asheville; 2 step grand daughters; 2 step great grand daughters, 1 step great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Starnes Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church and at other times at the residence. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
