Fairview - Helen Woody Caldwell, 79, of 3016 Cane Creek Road, died Tuesday October 16, 2001 at St. Josephs Hospital following a period of declining health. A native of Madison County. She had resided in Buncombe County most of her life, having resided in Lakeland, Florida from 1989 to 1997 when she returned to Buncombe County. She attended Family Worship Center in Lakeland and the Living Church of Jesus Christ in Asheville. She was the daughter of the late James Roy Woody, Sr. and Bertha Olive Bridges Woody. Mrs. Caldwell was the wife of Terrell Caldwell who died December 18, 1985 and was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Bruce Caldwell who died April 15, 1997 and a daughter, Marlene Anders who died June 24, 1970. Surviving are her daughter, Shirley Parris and husband, Douglas of Arden; sons, Craig Caldwell of Leicester and John Caldwell and wife, Carolyn of Hendersonville; sisters, Pauline Brown of Lakeland, Florida, Kathlene Deweese of Waynesville, Betty Feather of Bedford, Indiana, Bonnie Burris of Loveland, Ohio and Martha Ann Kiser of Norma, Illinois; brothers, Roy Woody, Jr. of New Carlisle, Ohio, Jack Woody of Asheville and John Woody of Brevard; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Wallace and Sharon Rice officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka. Pallbearers will be, Johnny Caldwell, John Caldwell, Jr., Danny Rice, Kevin Caldwell, Ricky Praytor and Lane Gillespie. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Shirley Parris of 23 McDonald Road, Averys Creek, Arden.
