Helen Mcentire

Asheville - Helen Dorothy Earley McEntire, 86, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Care Partners Hospice John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Rutherford County, Mrs. McEntire had resided in Florida before moving to Buncombe County early in her adult life. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she helped to gather food for Hospice patients and their families. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Mrs. McEntire was the daughter of the late Melvin and Estelle Burgess Earley, and the wife of 64 years of Earl “Earl Doc” McEntire, who passed away May 25, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy McEntire; and brothers, Robert Earley and Walter Earley. Surviving are her daughter, Tammi McEntire Bunce and husband Gary of Durham; granddaughter, Averie Bunce of Durham; grandson, Jacob Bunce of Durham; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Friday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 12:30 PM Friday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 200 Mt. Carmel Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
