Asheville - Helen Mae Honeycutt Massey, 91, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 8, 2016. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Massey retired from the sewing department of American Enka. She was a charter member of Richland Baptist Church, where she served as the former Sunday school teacher for the Willing Workers Class, as well as several other positions in the church. Mrs. Massey was the daughter of the late Mace Malone and Mae Biddix Honeycutt, and the wife of the late Preston Massey, who passed away January 4, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Don Honeycutt, Roy Honeycutt, Blake Honeycutt, Paul Honeycutt, Della McPeters, Adalene Smith, and infant sister Ida Honeycutt. Surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at Richland Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jack Gassaway officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:30 2:30 PM Sunday at the church. The family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Emerald Ridge Heath Care Center, for the loving care that Mrs. Massey received during her stay there.
