Helen M. Roberts

ASHEVILLE - Helen Mace Roberts, 80, died Monday November 5, 2007 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center after a period of declining health. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1953. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Shadrack Birdrick Birdie Mace and Sarah Emaline Rice Mace and the wife of the late Hugh Zebulon Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Ella Peek and Pauline Keith. She was a homemaker who cared for all in the church and neighborhood, especially the children. Surviving are her daughters, Sara Roberts of Asheville and Ann Johnston and husband Randy of Marshall; son, Doug Roberts and wife Christine of Candler; grandchildren, Jeff, Kimberly and Matthew Johnston and Kaitlyn, Kayleigh and Kiya Roberts and several nieces, nephews and a number of friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Westwood Baptist Church with the Revs. Stanley Peek and Carson Moseley officiating. Burial will be in the Peek Cemetery in Madison County.
