Helen Kathleen Roberts Coffey

January 2, 1920 — April 1, 2014

Helen Kathleen Roberts Coffey, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Alma Embler Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her husband Raymond Coffey; sons: Donald, Larry, Everett, and Robert Banks; daughters: Mary Banks, Ruth Pettit, and Wanda Knight; and by 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving are her daughter, Darlene Putnam and her husband Bob of Asheville; son, Earnest O. Banks and his wife Susie of Hendersonville; sisters: Juanita Sprouse of Asheville, and Ethel King of Odessa, TX; 14 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 5, 2014 at George Town Missionary Baptist Church of which she was a member. Rev. Lee Davis will officiate with burial to follow at Dix Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00 PM Saturday at the church. The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff of the WNC Baptist Home and Care Partners Hospice for their loving care for Mrs. Coffey. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the Coffey family.
