Helen Cutie Ledford

September 16, 1927 — January 28, 2008

Asheville - Helen Cutie Callahan Ledford, 80, formerly of 27 Loving Way, Clyde, passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at Emerald Ridge Rehab and Care Center. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Ledford had resided in Buncombe County for over 70 years. She was a retired in-home healthcare aide, and a member of Woodfin Church of God. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Murrey and Pansy Marriah Ponder Callahan, and the widow of James Alvin Ledford, who passed away March 22, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son, Harold Ledford; daughters: Linda Roberts and Carolyn White; granddaughter, Jeannie Ledford; sister, Wanda Anderson; and brothers: Cline and Genneth Callahan. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Surrett of Waynesville; brother, Glendle Callahan of Alma, MI; sisters: Kathleen McMahan of Mars Hill, Elaine Rickard of Greenville, SC and Eunice Rickard of Winder, GA; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Anderson, Rev. Bill Ponder, and Rev. Nelson Ponder officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
