Helen Ball

Candler - Helen Lori Greene Ball, 81, of 1293 Pisgah Hwy., died Sunday April 7, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. A native of Spartanburg, SC, she had resided in Buncombe County for 75 years. She was co-owner and former office manager of Ball Heating Company since 1964 and was of the Baptist faith. She was a daughter of the late Grady and Virgil Netherton Greene. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Rev. Weldon G. Ball of the home; sons, Weldon Donnie Ball and wife, Martha and Harold Dean Ball and wife, Angela all of Asheville; sisters, Blanche Hawkins and Mildred Graham both of Candler and Doris Barnes of Asheville; brother, Grady Greene, Jr. of Candler; grandchildren, Donna B. Clark, Michael Dean Ball, Melissa B. Boone, Christopher Lee Ball and Susan Michelle Ball; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka. Pallbearers will be the staff of Ball Heating Company. Her family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.
