Hazel Sanders Bennett

Asheville - Hazel Sanders Bennett of 213 Richmond Hill died Thursday September 20, 2001 at Rickman Nursing Center. A native of Columbia, SC. She had lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She worked for R.L. Coleman and Company and retired from St. Genevieves Gibbons Hall Catholic School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 50 years, Sunday School teacher for 25 years and played in the Handbell Choir. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Caroline Roberts Sanders and wife of the late Charles A. Bennett, Sr. Surviving are her son, Charles A. Chuck Bennett, Jr. and wife, Karen of Alexander; daughter, Joyce Hubbard of Baltimore, MD; sister, Virginia Hocking of Asheville; grandchildren, Beverly and Rebecca Whisnant, Emily, Rachael, Rebecca and Charlie Bennett. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Corbin officiating.
