Hazel Boone Rhymer

Arden Hazel Martha Boone Rhymer, 89, of 103 Appalachian Blvd, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. A native of Yancey County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She retired from the downtown Bon Marche, was formerly employed with the Asheville Army Store, was former Worthy Matron of the Weaverville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #49 and was a member of the former Green Memorial Methodist Church and current member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mrs. Rhymer was a daughter of the late Walter Ernest Boone and Altha Cody Boone and wife of Johnny Rhymer who died May 22, 2001. Surviving are her brother, Ernest Cheese Boone and wife Reba of Fletcher and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Council on Aging, 46 Sheffield Circle, Asheville, N.C. 28803.
