Harriet A. Jones

Matthews - Harriet Helen Allison Jones, 68, of 2831 Cedar Chase Drive, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. A Buncombe County native and resident most of her life. She had resided in Matthews since June 2003. She was employed for 28 1/2 years at Square D and was a member of Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Morgan Lee Allison and Sarah Matilda Odum Allison and wife of James William Jones who died December 14, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Herman Lee Allison. Surviving are her sons, Dale Emory Jones of Asheville and Alan Lee Jones of Skyland; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Jones of Skyland, Dylan James Jones of Marion and Emily Dale Jones of Asheville; sisters, Lucille McWhorter of Jacksonville, FL, Loretta Contoleon of Asheville and Marie Davis of Charlotte and step-mother, Nettie Davis of Charlotte. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews at a later date.
