Harold Richard Payne

Candler - Harold Richard Payne, 60, of Maple Ridge Rd. died Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at Mountain Area Hospice. A native of Swain County, he had resided in Buncombe County for 35 years. He was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church, was an Army Veteran, and was retired from BASF. He was the son of Grady Robert Payne of Bryson City and the late Lillian Howard Payne. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Payne. Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Barbara Norton Payne of the home; son, Wes Warren and wife Kristine of Asheville; sisters, Allene Williamson of Whittier and Shirley Hyde of Winston-Salem; brothers, Clifford Payne and Joe Payne both of Bryson City; grandchildren, Lesley and Sarah Warren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Furman Wilson, Bobby Howard, and Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O.
