Candler Hannah Ball Sams, 92, of 149 Maple Ridge Road went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 5, 2009. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1936. She was a homemaker and last founding member of Maple Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Sams was a daughter of the late Burgin Ball and Vashti Wildes Ball and wife of Fred Sams who died November 17, 1995. Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Sams & wife Kay and Freddie Sams & wife Lois all of Candler; daughters, Peggy Taylor & husband Larry of Candler and Linda Zentz & husband Robert of Asheville; grandchildren, Melanie Clark, Rhonda Wester, Clint Zentz, Clay Zentz, Rita Farmer, Lisa Dishmon, Roy Dennis Fairchilds, Christy Cunningham and Carrie Sams; great grandchildren, Taylor, Colton, Trevor, Andrew, Jordan, Noah, Josh, Jacob, Kailee, Ryan, Nicholas, Tiffany and Tyler; sister, Marjorie Calbrese of Candler; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Maple Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Fox, Rev. Claude Surrett and Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park with David Clark, Doug Wester, Clint Zentz, Clay Zentz, Roy Dennis Fairchilds and Paul Cunningham serving as pallbearers.
