Guynella "Nea" Rice

November 5, 1915 — January 23, 2003

Asheville - Guynella Nea Thomas Rice, 90, of 4 Maple Street went to be with her Lord, Monday January 23, 2006 at St. Josephs Hospital. A native of Madison, Co., she had lived most of her life in Buncombe County and was a longtime member of State Street Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late John Washington and Bessie McDevitt Thomas and the wife of the late Dewey Howard Rice. Surviving are her daughter, Sue McElrath of Candler; sons, Eugene Stines of Morganton. Arthur Michales of Candler, Bucky Michales of Asheville, Jimmy Stines of Asheville and Dwaine Stines of Asheville; sister, Evelyn Hall of Durham, brothers, Ray Thomas of Asheville, Gene Thomas of Greenville, TN and Tommy Thomas of Morganton; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Coates officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home and at the United Missionary Baptist Church on Reems Creek Road following the burial on Wednesday.
