ASHEVILLE - GLENN W. JARVIS, 79, OF 694 FAIRVIEW RD. DIED THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2000 AT MEMORIAL MISSION HOSPITAL. HE WAS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY. MR. JARVIS RETIRED AS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR FOR THE BUNCOMBE COUNTY COURTHOUSE AFTER 40 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE WAS A MEMBER OF GASHES CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH, AND WAS A VETERAN OF THE US ARMY, SERVING DURING THE KOREAN WAR. MR. JARVIS WAS THE SON OF THE LATE JAMES EDWARD AND ANNIE MAY ROGERS JARVIS AND WAS THE HUSBAND OF THE LATE ORLA MAE BURRIS JARVIS. HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A BROTHER, ALLEN B. JARVIS. SURVIVING ARE HIS DAUGHTER, LINDA DENTON OF CHARLOTTE, NC; SON CHARLES JARVIS OF FLETCHER; SISTERS, IMOGENE ROBERTS OF CANTON AND SARAH HAYES OF HOMESTEAD, FL; 5 GRANDCHILDREN, 12 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 PM SATURDAY IN THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL WITH THE REV. RUSTY RECTOR OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN ASHELAWN GARDENS OF MEMORY WITH MILITARY GRAVESIDE RITES CONDUCTED BY THE BUNCOMBE COUNTY VETERANS COUNCIL/VOLUNTEER MEMORIAL TEAM. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 UNTIL 8:30 PM FRIDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
