ASHEVILLE - GLENN VIRGEL REINHARDT, 81, OF 308 NEW LEICESTER HWY, DIED FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 1, 2000 AT MEMORIAL MISSION HOSPITAL AFTER AN EXTENDED ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF CATAWBA COUNTY HE HAD LIVED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY SINCE 1967. HE RETIRED FROM THE U.S. NAVY IN 1961 AFTER 24 YEARS OF SERVICE AS A CHIEF PETTY OFFICER. HE WAS A PEARL HARBOR, W.W.II AND A KOREAN VETERAN. HE WAS OF THE BAPTIST FAITH AND A V.F.W. MEMBER. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE FRED HERMAN AND JETTY MOORE REINHARDT. SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE, BETTY AIKEN REINHARDT OF THE HOME; DAUGHTERS, GLENDA REINHARDT PAYNE OF MARSHALL AND ANGELA REINHARDT ELLIOTT OF ASHEVILLE; SONS, GREGORY CARTER REINHARDT, EDDIE KEITH MURRAY OF CHARLOTTE, GARY ALLEN REINHARDT OF ASHEVILLE AND FRED MICHAEL MURRAY OF NORFOLK, VA; SISTER, EVIE WARLICK OF NEWTON; BROTHERS, LARRY REINHARDT OF CONOVER, HOWARD REINHARDT OF SALISBURY AND THURSTON REINHARDT OF ERWIN, TN; TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN. GRAVESIDE SERVICES AND BURIAL WILL BE HELD 12:00 NOON TUESDAY AT THE WESTERN CAROLINA STATE VETERANS CEMETERY, BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC. WITH PASTOR DANIEL STEPHENSON OFFICIATING. MILITARY RITES WILL BE CONDUCTED BY THE BUNCOMBE COUNTY VETERANS COUNCIL VOLUNTEER MEMORIAL TEAM. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 7 TO 8:30 P.M. MONDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME.
