Our precious mother, Glenda Jean Mayo went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 28th 2015, where she is free from pain, Dementia and Parkinsons Disease. In heaven she joins her beloved husband of 50 years, Colonel (ret.) Bob Mayo, parents Glen and Imogene Freeman, and many dear friends too numerous to mention. Glenda was born on May 4, 1937 to Glen C. Freeman and Imogene Freeman. Mother grew up in Asheville, NC until high school when the family moved to Winter Park, FL. She met the love of her life, Bob Mayo in Winter Park. Mother dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, her husband and family. We often told her she had a direct line to Gods ear; Always interceding in prayer for family or friends. She loved serving others whether it was fulfilling her duties as an Air Force officers wife, helping the homeless through Sharing and Caring, volunteer work at the hospital or her Church Shalimar United Methodist. She is survived by her son, David C. Mayo and wife (Lauri), daughter, Beth Tasillo and husband (Bill). Her grandchildren Drew, Jared, Will and Lauren plus nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the loving care our Mom received from Agape Hospice and Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home. Contributions may be made to Sharing and Caring 126 Beal Pkwy SW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548 or Shalimar United Methodist Church 1 Old Ferry Rd., Shalimar, FL 32579. A graveside service will be held 10 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville. Anders-Rice Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
